It is not the easiest thing to do, letting a player know his services would no longer be needed or he would be moved on and most managers in their autobiographies explain the challenge to break the news to these players.
But for ex-Nigerian defender Danny Shittu, he hard to find out the weirdest way.
Responding to a tweet by Hull City's defender Alex Bruce (who was thanking the club for publicly telling him his contract would not be renewed), Marc Bircham used the opportunity to throw light at a situation he and Danny Shittu once found themselves in.

Bircham would make a joke of the situation saying the burly defender "nearly" did not eat his lunch.

The defender would end up joining Watford in the summer of 2006 for £1.6 million.
